Man murdered in Granville Street apartment

 Vancouver Police investigators remained on the scene  Sunday of a murder inside an apartment building in the 2400-block of Granville Street.

The VPD was called to the Edwards Block, a historic building at 2425 Granville, just before 11 p.m. Saturday.

Christopher Denis Kwik, 40, has been identified as the victim. He was not a resident of the apartment.

“While still early in the investigation and the exact motive for the shooting remains unknown, the attack is believed to be targeted,” Const. Brian Montague said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the VPD Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.

Kwik was just charged on Jan. 28 with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in October 2015. He was scheduled to make a first court appearance Feb. 2.

“He does appear that he was involved in some high-risk behaviours,” Montague said.

The slaying is the first of 2016.

The murder scene is a busy section of Granville between Broadway and 8th, with storefronts on the building’s main floor.
