The B.C. Court of Appeal has overturned a first-degree murder conviction for United Nations gang killer Michael Newman and substituted a second-degree conviction instead.
That means Newman, who killed Vancouver lawyer Marc Rozen in a botched 2004 robbery, could be eligible for parole as much as 15 years sooner than the mandatory 25-year term in a case of first-degree murder.
