Gun violence in Surrey and Abbotsford Friday left a man dead and two others injured.
Surrey RCMP Staff Sgt. Murray Henderson said a man was shot to death about 8:55 p.m. in the 11300-block of Alpen Place.
“Attending officers located one victim deceased at scene and a second victim was located, also suffering from gunshot wounds, and has been transported to hospital,” he said in a news release.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the scene and is working with the Surrey RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section to process the scene, he said.
“Officers are conducting neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information. The investigation is still in its early stages but it appears this was a targeted incident,” he said.

The Surrey shooting came just hours after Abbotsford Police received a report of shots fired in the area of Townshipline and Bradner Roads.
Const. Ian MacDonald said in a released that “the caller indicated that it appeared that at least one vehicle was involved in the gunfire.”
“As APD officers were responding to the scene, a male with an apparent gunshot wound entered the emergency department of an area hospital,” he said. “The male victim, an Abbotsford resident in his 30s, is receiving treatment in hospital. The investigation into this incident is continuing.”
